Rene Ordonez, PhD
Department Chair

Professor Ordonez has been a member of the faculty of the SOU School of Business since 1988. He teaches BA 282: Applied Business Statistics and BA 380:Production Operations Management. Other courses he handles include BA 496: Introduction to Management Science, and BA 428: Applied Business Research.

Rene was born and raised in the Philippines. His academic credentials include: a Bachelor of Arts degree, major in Economics, from the University of the Philippines (1982); a master's degree in Business Administration (management) from the University of Akron (1987); and Doctor of Philosophy in Management Science from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago (1997).

His current research interest is in the use of technology in pedagogy.  Since 1999, he has been actively involved in the design, development, and implementation of course curricula that incorporate technology in the classroom as well as in the delivery of course content.  His most recent work involves pilot-testing a hybrid course (one that incorporates online delivery and the traditional 'talk and chalk' approach) in business statistics and operations management. 

Professor Ordonez spent his sabbatical leave (June to December 2001) teaching in the Philippines.
